The Location "Bucklige Welt"

The region "Bucklige Welt" (which might be unconventionally translated with "Humpy World") is situated in the south-east of Niederösterreich (Lower Austria), located between Steiermark (Styria) and Burgenland.
The name "Bucklige Welt" describes the landscape which is formed by numberless hills and is based on the word "Buckln", which are small hills in the austrian dialect of this region. The whole area is flanked by different geographical borders. The south, west and east of the "Bucklige Welt" is terminated by branching parts of the Alps (Wechsel, Semmering, Rosaliengebirge) and the north lowers towards the Viennese valley.

Also historically the "Bucklige Welt" always played a role as a border region. It used to be the border between Austrian territory and Hungarian kingdom. During the time of the holy roman empire, the "Bucklige Welt" was hard-fought as the eastern boarder of the empire. As a result, there are a lot of old castles, churches and ruins, which can tell you many stories from previous times.

The special location of this Austrian region provides us with many very beautiful, interesting and challenging routes for our Bike Run 2010. There are lots of small places, which are not overloaded by tourists and just let us enjoy our bikes and ourselfs. And of course, there are diverse destinatios nearby, you might want to discover individually, if you have some spare time bevor or after our event.

Accomodation

Our hotel is situated quite isolated in the middle of the green countryside on approx. 800 m over sealevel. The surrounding is just perfect for relaxing, having fun and just feeling good, after having a great day out on the bike. Since there are only a limited number of beds, the hotel will be exclusively reservated for participants of the Bike Run 2010!
There is accomodation for about 90 people (mainly in double rooms) available, so be sure to register early enough! You won’t regret this!

Catering / Food

Since we are aware of the hunger coming up during biking, our hotel provides us not only a well sorted and rich buffet for breakfast, but additionaly a nice dinner, where you can choose between up to four different regional and international menues. Of course there will always be a vegetarian menue available!

Breakfastbuffet and dinnermenues are included in your registration-package! Only for bavarages you will have to pay for yourself.

During the day we will of course take time for lunch and optional little coffebreaks. They are not included in your registration and have to be paid by the participants.

Evening Planning

For the spirit of the Bike Run, of course we suppose, that we won’t spend our evening time seperatly in our rooms and go to sleep early.
Our daytrips will end early enough to spend some nice time together. There will be a special biker-bar for us in the evening, where you can have dinks and just enjoy the coming-together. If you like it more on the quiet side, there are many nice and cozy places in the woods to spend some time in the early summer night outside. In any case, we will be by ourselfs and not disturbed by nearby neighbours.

Although we will have the place just for ourselfs, we do not have to seperate us from the outside. So if there should be interested gay man in the surrounding, they are warmly invitated to join us and our activities. Of course accomodation in the hotel without being a participant of the Bike Run won‘t be possible.

Bikes

The area of the hotel provides enough paved space for all bikes. There are no garages available. Small repairs can be performed in the camp, with intern technical expertise. For all other cases, the official Austrian car- and bikeclubs (ÖAMTC and ARBÖ) are only about 15 km away.
